Isn't seven considered the peak of the series? It definitely was indicative of the way the series was progressing. What it originally may have been may have been different, but the direction they are currently taking it I do not believe to be a positive thing for RPGs.

While there would be arguments that 7 is the peak, mainly because that is when they changed to 3D, I believe most FF fans (the real ones, not the little kids whos first FF game was any of the games 7-11), would say that FF6 was the peak.
Great RPG, great story line, etc.
Oh and I will admit that the new FFs meaning... X, X-2, have been just like a movie. Run for a while and bam movie, fight once, and bam movie.
