We have a similar service in my area (Central California) and I tried to get it, but there was no line-of-sight... thankfully DSL arrived (phone co. finally built a repeater less than 9,000 feet away) so I am happily cruising 1.5mbps for $50/month.
Out here, the "freebie" of WiFi is only for landowners who have hills (taller the better). The power for those things must be pretty significant, though.
