| Mum, I'm not sure about Vent (still thinking), but try downloading CSS directly from Steam. You have the account you set up there, so you should be able to download anything you've purchased (even on disk) from them. That's where I downloaded CSS.
*just read your post above.* Can you switch to WAVE settings in Vent? make sure you updated the sound drivers to the latest. Don't let windows do it. Go get them from your computer brand, or audio hardware maker.
