You need a high def screen to read the text...yes it sucks I know. From what I remember (haven't played in a while) you just take the survivors to the elevator and back onto the roof and go into the vents. And you can do side missions but the main missions are started with a cutscene so you will know them. The cutscenes show up at certain times throughout the game. Hopefully that was of help. Like I said I haven't played in a while so don't quote me
