Most likely the worst list I have ever seen. "The most important games that paved the way"? I agree with a very few of those. If I was going to have a top list of games that paved the way games like

PAC-MAN
Dragons Lair (The first game ever to be on laser disc which was released in 1983)
Frogger
And Mechanically operated pinball

would all be the front runners.

GTA III was a good game, but not even in my top 20 for this category.
