As long as we're trek-geekin' it up here, there's a group of people who are doing fan episodes of the original series. Their pilot episode was a little weak, but their first real episode was pretty darn good. Their goal was to have special effects at least as good as the original Star Trek series and they're pretty much on par with the effects in The Next Generation.
Episode 1, In Harms Way, has the crew meeting up with Captain Pike after they do a time thingie and go up against one of the planet killer machines. The next episode, To Serve All My Days was written by DC Fontana, one of the original series writers and has Walter Koenig reprising the role of Chekov. The next one due to be released will have George Takai as Sulu. Everyone involved donated their time, including CGI guys from the show Enterprise who've signed on. The main dude there is James Cawley who is a professional Elvis impersonator and pretty much bank rolls the thing.
Here's their site. There's a lot of crappy fan stuff on the net, but this stuff is actually good. The sets are dead on, too.

It's on YouTube, too
