| i run 1680 on my 17" glossy, it's actually just right for me, i run studio windowed, great to also have some other programs running behind it and still viewable.
on the cheaper side, you have the toshiba p205-S6307 with 17" glossy WXGA. not bad at $984.00. dual core.
Asus has the A7t-A1 17" glossy wxga, but it's AMD x2, at $1249.00. (i run the x2 on my 17")
going even cheaper with the Acer AS9300-5415 at $874, also amd x2.
you can still pick up the core duo Asus w2jb, the prettiest 17" wxga laptop ever, for $1200. a little "underpowered" by today's standard, but sick looking.
