The only problem I have with this is we'll end up with a bunch of systems that nobody knows which to buy. Look at the Sega Genesis hardware, not only was there 4 revisions of the hardware (1/2/3/CDX) but 2 attachments (32x/CD). There were also several 3rd party (official) units (JVC X'eye, Laserdisc with Genesis attachment, the Sega TeraDrive and even a boom box with support).
It might get too confusing, but if the hardware works better than the current non-Elite models then I'm all for it
