While there is no further news on Tekken 6, it’s good to know that the developers are quite deep into porting the arcade version to the PS3 and the online mechanisms being worked on. Harada also shared the story behind developing the series, saying Sega’s Virtua Fighter is the main inspiration for the game back in 1994. On to the content of the subsequent games in the series, Harada says that most of them are feedbacks from players. And yes, Roger Jr., the kingaroo and panda are all requests by fans of the series. All the characters from the previous games in the series will be making their PS3 debut, this is because every characters appears to have their very own fans and the developers are terrified that a girl threatened to kill herself after news of her favorite character being dropped.

As for the online modes, the experience of Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection Online has given them enough knowledge to make 60fps online fight a possibility. The producer also mention possible downloadable content like new characters and data download. On future, Harada hopes there is a chance to do some crossover with other fighting series, something along the line of “Tekken vs Virtua Fighter vs CAPCOM vs SNK”. Finally, Harada says while fans of respective series may see it as fierce rivalry, the developers behind these fighting games are actually very close together.

The King of Iron Fist Tournament 5 came to a close. The final battle was against the sponsor of the tournament, Jinpachi Mishima, from which Jin Kazama came away the victor.

Becoming the president of the Mishima Zaibatsu, Jin immediately began various programs within the company and converted the Tekkenshu into a spy project. People began to suspect a darkness in Jin, leading to increased tension, infighting and finally a full-scale war. The whole world was drawn in, and when the nations began losing power, the Zaibatsu, able to gain a profit from the potential of war, announced its independence and declared war on the entire world.

Initially the Mishima Zaibatsu was a formidable enemy, but then G Corporation rose to the position of the main opposition to the Zaibatsu. The world saw the rival company as the savior, and endorsed them completely in their drive to suppress the Zaibatsu. Eventually, G-Corporation announced that the president of the Mishima Zaibatsu was the root cause of the war and promises an immense amount of money to anyone who can capture Jin Kazama alive.

But almost as if anticipating this move, the Mishima Zaibatsu announced the opening of the King of Iron Fist Tournament 6. People may enter to gain fame, money and (unintelligible). In the midst of this chaos, the curtains rise on the King of Iron Fist Tournament 6.

A new Tekken? bah, what a horrible franchise. The combo system totally sucks, there aren't that many moves, and the characters are lame. I mean, come on ... with an old guy named Wang and and some half cocked bestiality reject named King ... how can anyone thing this game is good? Not to mention it took them, what ... 5 games to add any kind of decent side stepping features. Tekken 4 was just some lame attempt to get it right, which they somewhat did with Tekken 5. Those graphics from that trailer look like they are straight out of early ps2 days. Blah I say ... blah. *cough*



hehe, naa ... I will say, once this game hits shelves I will be the owner of Tekken 6 and a shiny new ps3. I love me some Tekken.

I agree. Yoshi, Wang and King ... oh, and Jin. Oh wait, Jack and I can't forget about Brian. Man ... I do hope they add pretty much everyone in Tekken 5. I also noticed a few picks of Armor King the other day. I must say though, I hope they leave out Eddie and the woman version of him. That character is a button mashers dream.

Yea, with how great Tekken 5 was, I don't think there is any way I'm not getting a ps3 w/ this game when it comes out. (unless of course it were to get released for 360) I only hope they add online capability. It would be crap if they did not add an online feature to Tekken this time around. It'll be fun to actually bust out some Tekken skills against peeps besides the handful I normally game with.

Ahh, from the article on IGN. Large character count is good to hear.

Based on Hirada's comments during the interview, Team Tekken will be retaining for Tekken 6 the elements of Tekken 5 and Dark Resurrection that were received well by players. Hirada promised the greatest character count the series has ever seen, along with heavily customizable character costumes. He also made mention of greater interactivity in the stages.
