    L4D Pre-Loading Begins

FYI... Steam is now allowing you to pre-load the files for Left4Dead so that when the game goes live this upcoming week you'll be able to play immediately.

how many players are allowed to join the server once the official game starts rolling in? It's extremely hard to join a 4 man server unfortunately

    it'll be 8 on a versus server, 4 infected vs 4 survivors.

yeah, it'll be tough to get into the strafeRight server every time, but the nice thing is that your steam friends show up on your L4D menu, so you can join them wherever they go that has an open slot.

In my opinion Valve made a serious error by limiting the number of survivor players to four. This isn’t 1995 and we aren’t playing Doom II.

I think a few things need to happen for this game to be successful. The first is increasing the survivor player limit to at least eight. If that means Valve has to create four new character models with sounds along with changing the spawn points and other details on the maps, well, that’s what they need to do.

The second is to enable the server browser by default and ditch the match-making/game lobby nonsense. I know Valve created these features to help FPS novices be able to play online easier, but honestly the learning curve isn’t that bad with the traditional server listing method.
