| | | Bingo. And since you can tweak Leopard to run on a PC, any argument favoring Apple hardware over PC falls flat. Unless you have a need for an ultra-portable like Craig's air, PC will always win.

| | I prefer OS X for all desktop usage, applications, work, etc.
I only keep XP around for gaming.
I could care less whether it's running on Apple hardware or a self-built PC. OS X is just win.

| | | 1. they couldn't match up specs? 1gb vs 3gb? 2.8 vs 2.4?
Really, it's not that hard, esp with Apple running Intel. Borks up the test.
2. Sleep? It's like 5 seconds for PC (vista) to wake up. I can deal. Now the startup, that I'd like to see reduced, but since I run mostly from sleep, no biggie.
3. Install times? um, yeah. if it takes 4 minutes, or 5 minutes, I'm not standing over it, and I'm only installing Office once. jesus h.
4. Penryn processor vs. Not? 13.3" vs 15.4" Holy Christ, my mother could think up a closer test. There ARE 13.3" windows laptops. How do you compare battery life when the screens are different sizes? fucking lose.
5. Conclusion: Vista is more sluggish? Yeah, we all pretty much had come to that conclusion about a year ago.
Fantastic article for us to poop on.
oh, and my bootup time is 43 seconds max from button push to ready desktop. Not sure what bloatware they have on the Windows machine. What, they have AOL and a bios virus scan?

| | | Well the laptops I think they did based on price. not sure about the desktop, especially since the PC is more expensive

Games are designed for windows. The day I see a MAC that can support DX10 and run a game as seamlessly as windows, I'll consider making one my primary machine.
| maybe they should take into account the 18 months for a game to be ported to OS X |

| Well I cant really compare the two. That ALX system cost over $10K. The SSD alones was over $3400
I have two G4s running OS X, not the best comparison.
I'm sure it flies on the air. | | |
