: 78 th | | | Some Big Names In Tech Press Review iPhone 3G Have a look at this group of reviews over on MacRumors from some of the bigger names in tech reporting today. They generally have good things to say about the next iteration of the iPhone, and pretty much still want the same things that were missing in the first generation. Quote: Walt Mossberg / AllThingsD
- "it mostly keeps its promises."
- "more capable version of an already excellent device"
- Battery drained much more quickly using 3G
- Greatly improved audio, much louder speaker
- Data speeds 3-5x faster than original iPhone
- Better voice coverage with 3G. "At my neighborhood shopping center, where the first iPhone got little or no AT&T service, the iPhone 3G registered strong coverage."
| I agree with one of the reviews in that the advent of the App Store is probably the biggest and best news in iPhone land this time around. That said, I'll be at AT&T at some point on Friday to get my new phone :-0 |

I still think Craig should give away his old iPhone for the Power Rankings, it would become insanely popular

But if you already own an iPhone, and can usually use Wi-Fi for data, you probably should hold off and get the free software upgrade before deciding whether it’s worth getting the new hardware.
| I agree that its probably smart to hang onto v1.0 if you've got one until you really get to test drive the App Store. But if you're like me and want 3G + GPS on your iPwn, now's the time. |

: 78 th | | Canadian carrier caves on iPhone data plans...offers up 6GB of bandwidth per month for $30.
Trust me, you'll never use more than a few hundred megs browsing with your iPhone over 3G/Edge. Never. That's as good a deal as unlimited.

| What if you download stuff from your iPhone? Documents, word files, powerpoints...they CAN get big, and if you do enough of them. I assume it will quickly get filled as well with the store and being able to download programs and such.
Why not just offer unlimited, or at least the option to? |
