: 72 nd | | | AT&T Rolls Out Free Wi-Fi For All iPhone Users Finally, AT&T delivers on their promise of providing free wifi for all of their iPhone users at all AT&T hot-spots, including Starbucks. Quote:
AT&T knows Wi-Fi is hot, and free Wi-Fi even hotter, which is why we are proud to offer iPhone customers free access to the nation's largest Wi-Fi hotspot network with more than 17,000 hotspots, including Starbucks*. Now users can relax and access music, e-mail and web browsing services with their favorite blend in hand from the comfort of their favorite location.
*Wi-Fi at U.S. company operated Starbucks locations equipped with a hotspot. More than 17,000 AT&T Wi-Fi hotspot locations nationwide - 12 Airports
- 31 Hotels
- 23 Universities
- 18 Convention Centers
- 5 Sports Centers
- 8,000 + Restaurants
- 700 + Bookstores
- 50 + Supermarkets
Whether you browse from your laptop, phone, or device AT&T is committed to enhancing your experience by providing powerful broadband speeds. This allows for fast and easy downloads of your favorite music, streaming videos, games, and more.
| You already get this perk if you're an AT&T DSL user in case you didn't already know. This does somewhat ease the pain of a $30 per month data bill, and does add more value to the iPhone as a platform overall. Update: Or not: AT&T mistakenly announces free Wi-Fi for iPhone users...again | News - Wireless - CNET News.com Quote: |
But Wes Warnock, an AT&T spokesman, told CNET News that the notice was published in error. "We have not made any announcement regarding free Wi-Fi and iPhone," he said in an e-mail. "The Web page was posted in error and is being removed."

| | This is HUUUGE I think. Totally unfair
I also think people should take advantage of this and the unlimited data plan. AT&T is really giving a better deal than most people think.

| | | Really 17k isnt a lot of locations... However if there is something on the iphone to locate places near by with free WiFi for iPhone users it would probably be worth it for business owners to put in WiFi...

| | Only listed 8839 places. Where the hell is the other 9000? Too bad Rogers in Canada won't do this for us. We have to buy a special package to do the same.
On a better note... Craig and other fellow iPhoners. Take a look at some of the VOIP applications coming soon to an iPhone near you. Then if you have internet at home and all these wifi spots you can use VOIP service for like $15 unlimited everything a month instead of $30-40 for 250 minutes or whatever you get in the states. OH YA BABY! That's the first thing I'm doing when I get mine.
examples of some iPhone VOIP software: TruPhone, iCall, SIPHON

| | | everyone can get free wifi at Starbucks with a Starbucks card. 2 hours a day, every day, as long as you use or reload your coffee card every 30 days.
so you CAN get 'free' wifi on your iPhone! just not everywhere yet.
