Think MacBook screen, possibly a bit smaller, in glass with iPhone-like, but fuller-featured multi-touch. Gesture library. Full Mac OS X. This is why they bought P.A. Semi. Possibly with Immersion's haptic tech. Slot-loading SuperDrive. Accelerometer. GPS. Pretty expensive to produce initially, but sold at "low" price that will reduce margins. Apple wants to move these babies. And move they will. This is some sick shit. App Store-compatible, able to run Mac apps, too. By October at the latest.
| There's little doubt to me that something like this is on the way. The iPhone has shown that the whole "touch" craze is not a fluke, people want to interact with their computer, not use it.

: 60 th | | I think this is kinda cool, but I'd rather see a 12" convertible laptop/tablet rather than pure tablet. Oh and a UMPC-esque Macbook in the sub-$500 region would be nice as well

: 67 th | | | to be honest, I had no idea of the consumer pull on an OS X capable tablet until I got initiated into the culture a little. I don't really see a need for one in what I do, but I guess there are plenty of professionals out there who depend on Apple that want one. |

How many applications really do well on touch? multi-media does, viewing pictures, probably some specific business apps, but what else?

: 67 th | | | well they need a killer app for sure if its going to be more than a flash in the pan sku. unless they're confident that's the kind of computing experience we all want (i really dont, but they nailed the iPod thing with a simple interface when i wanted more controls), this thing might come and go fast. |
