Too bad MicroSD cards of that size aren't available yet (and will probably be twice as expensive as the current 32GB SDHC cards).

Samsung, Toshiba and SanDisk all have 32GB microSD cards on the way (ie - 3rd quarter '09). Price isn't a huge deal if you want the space. These cards are also rumored to have 2x the transfer speed as current top end 16GB cards.

They're still fucking us. Have a look at how well TechCrunch puts it:

Quote:
If AT&T really wanted to reduce monthly iPhone bills it could do something very simple: Start including SMS plans in its unlimited data plans. After all, SMS is data, yet it conveniently falls outside of AT&T’s unlimited service. The reason for this is obvious: Text messages are an absolute cash cow for AT&T and the other carriers. They are also an absolute rip-off, as they cost the carriers next to nothing to transmit. Instead of just folding these SMS fees into the unlimited data plans like rival Sprint does, AT&T wants to pretend to save consumers money by offering a limited data package for $10 less a month. What a joke.
I was ok with 200 texts being rolled into my initial data plan 2 years ago. but in this day and age of data and pipes, they're scamming us with this $5 per month crap for texts.

anyway, they are much better at speaking their minds at Tech Crunch

yeah, good call. that's why text messages are <= 160 characters, because that's the static packet size of cell tower system messages. that shit all goes along through side channels.

But still, I don't hate them for charging for something that's relatively free for them.. they still have overhead associated with it anyway

I thought the limit of 160 was because the guy who created it... Why text messages are limited to 160 characters | Technology | Los Angeles Times

Anyway, I would venture to say I have the best phone plan on this board. Correction, best value. I, (well my family), pays $109.99 - $25 employee discount my dad gets from his company, for 5 family members, unlimited text, 7pm nights, and unlimited data. That is the total price, not for each line.
