Other than the misspelling of "anisotropic," the video is good. I always knew the MBPs had lots of power. The fact Apple provided a method of installing Windows makes it even better. Apple didn't have to do that, and you can be sure Microsoft wouldn't have wrote it for them, either.
As weak as the 8600 really is, that plays pretty damn decent for a laptop. I bet if he sacrificed the AA, he could maintain a solid 60fps.
He doesn't have spec mapping on.. which is what the sharers are all about.. They provide more realistic rounding of textures by light reflection, along with a few other things.
Play with it yourself if you like if you have CoD4. heh

It's not realistic at all. Trip and I tested specular lighting a bunch and found it to be complete junk. It adds lighting inside buildings where there are no lights. It adds outlines around models, textures, etc. where there shouldn't be any. There are some servers that force specular lighting off and I like those servers. It actually makes playing the game a challenge since player models no longer have a permanent glow around them.
Last time I walked into a room with no lights, I don't remember seeing a glow around myself. So this is definitely not a realistic option.
Nice to know an 8600m can play a game like COD4... the new 9500m is supposed to be the direct successor to that card, it's available in a few ASUS models now, anyone hear anything about benchmarks? Is this card a decent boost from the 8600?
sounds interesting Major...rumors are that the MacBooks (and Pro's) will get another refresh this summer. could be that card in the Pros then? would be cool
Yeah, the new 9 series mobile cards sound promising, but I did some quick research and it looks like the 9500M GS is basically the same as the 8600M GT. Same speeds and everything, just has a few more power-saving features, smaller, gives off less heat and such. The fact that it's a GS implies that there may be a GT, though no other cards have been announced.
Hopefully nVidia will release a true update (9600M?) before summer. I'll be pissed if I can't get something good in time for college... as it is I'm playing CSS on a Go 7400...
