Apple General Software Help

So I thought this would be a good place just for consistent problems, but I made it mostly cause I have one.

I have a program called Sailing Clicker. When I boot up my computer, it starts as well. I don't see a menu preference to turn this option off like other programs. In general, I also was wondering if there is a "msconfig" command or such that takes me to a window to control the start up programs at my will.

Good question. Dope can probably tell us. I'd also like to know where startup info is

Zeedead loves playing with their D-key!
hey, i just got a mac book pro a little while ago and i think i know what your talking about. first off there's no msconfig that i know of for the mac's, that's some awesome pc thing. the only thing that i think can help you is if you do the following...

system preferences > under system click "accounts" > on the left click your account to select it > then on the top click "login items"

this then gives you a list of the programs that start when the mac loads osx. deselect it if you don't want to it start, or click the plus on the bottom if you want a program that isn't there to start as well.

hope that helps, and good luck.
cheers, zmo

I was wondering if there is a program on the Mac that can check if my other programs are up to date, especially the ones that I use infrequently, but are important to me nevertheless.

I got curious because there are many Mac programs I have that don't offer full features of it's PC counterpart (i.e. Ventrilo) that I am always wondering if it is finally fully featured.

in OS X you can highlight text in documents, right click and it actually reads you the highlighted area. i use it for boring work crap while surfing the net

no, its just in documents. thats why i mentioned Chrome would pwn all if it could do that but I assume its OS dependent, not the browser.

Can anyone tell me how I can get my "Games" folder to be an icon, like the rest of the folders here?
