So I have a few bookmarks added to my home screen on my iPhone. I've noticed that some sites have cool custom icons when adding these bookmarks. For example,
Apple has the mac/apple logo. When adding other sites, you just see the webpage, super minimized... which is kind of annoying. I'd rather see the logo as the icon, to make it easier to distinguish the icons before clicking them. Yes, reading the damn labels suck!
Anyway, there are a few sites that teach you how to do this. It seems quite simple, actually. You just create a PNG file that's 45x45 pixels, and name it
apple-touch-icon.png and you're set.
Here's the page with all that information:
How to create a custom Apple iPhone icon for your Web site :: Free Tech Support from Ask Dave Taylor!
Here's a before and after in case you don't know what I'm talking about. The guy added his website, and it didn't have a custom icon. Once he added the custom icon, it also changed on his iPhone home screen.
I just think it would be cool to add that. So tell Dan or whoever makes our logos to get to work!
