Macros: Cheating or not?

Do you consider the use of Macros in BF2 to be a form of cheating?

Yes. You are doing something that was not intended in the game and/or not everyone can do.

What kind of macro's are you referring to? I've seen people use bunny hopping macros that are annoying. As far as cheating... I guess it is, but It seems like it would hinder your abilities more than it could help.

It all depends on the application imo. Like, a bunny hopping macro wont give you too much; but a rapid fire macro would. (rapid simulated clicks to make your semi auto weapon pretty much full auto)

Gaming keyboards come with it. It's not our fault that the other people don't have it.

Some of us have the best video cards out there.. no fps lag. Others have sh1tty ones that can't get over 20fps and have major lag issues. Is it our fault? Should we downgrade so they can have the same advantages as us?

Some people can get easy headshots for 1 hit kills, others can't. Should we purposely miss so we can match to what people with less skill can do?

In my opinion, keyboards come with macro keys for a reason. In CS:S, I use my macro keys on the left side for quick weapon buying. Especially for those servers with AWPs that are limited, I press one key and I get it. It's not a cheat, just an advantage that you can get yourself if you buy a keyboard with macro keys. My right side macro keys perform easy things for me with the press of one key.. such as ctrl c and ctrl v for copy and pasting.

Now, I don't know if macro keys can make you get more kills in a game... maybe in BF2 it's different. I haven't fired up my BF2 since I bought it because of the damn jet flyers that drop bombs on me. You can consider that cheating too.. because I can't fly a jet... right?

I voted no.. and I don't why the "yes" is winning on the poll. I bet all 5 people that have voted yes so far don't have macro keys.

That's different, though. The game developers give you choices to lower graphics settings and so on to improve FPS or whatever. That's intended. Using macros for bunny hopping or dolphin diving is definitely not the intention the game developers had in mind. Since they are not intended to be used in that manner, I would consider it some form of cheating (cheating is a strong word, however).

By your response here, and your reason behind it, you can include all the other cheats in the world in it. You're saying that a person can use a wallhack and it's not his fault that other people can't.

Now now... wallhacking is a 3rd party program. And that IS cheating. It's already on the cheating list.

As to using macros for bunny hopping. I guess that is "cheating". Well, not cheating exactly.. I don't know what word to use for it.. but it's kind of gay.

I didn't know macros could be used for that, I apologize.

But you took my reply out of context. LOL I'm talking about legal things one can buy, such as hardware that make the game perform better than anyone else.

You know, the macros are handled by third-party software. It's not something the game just knows.

You can do the things in counter-strike you listed, without macros. You can bind keys it's actually faster to bind the key than to make a macro for it. Not to mention you can't use Macro's in competitive play. At least not in CS or CSS.
