Hosting dedicated ranked server

A clanmate of mine has a computer to dedicate for a server, and he is currently trying to set it up now. Unfortunately, it seems the only option available to him is unranked. I heard that you need a liscense to host ranked servers. Is there anyway to buy a liscense so that we can play on a ranked server instead of just an unranked? It seems just stupid to me to rent a server for $254 a month or whatever when we could just pay a flat fee to get it ranked. Any ideas?

Nope, EA is major picky even when allowing hosting companies to have ranked servers.

Well that really sucks... Either an unranked server for nothing or ranked for 260. You would think EA would just sell the abillity to host ranked for money. They would make more off of that than only selling to huge companies, as loads of clans would make servers of their own. Plus people would be happier with the variety and would probably attract more players. Oh well.. Thanks for the help.

ya it stinks Sailing...it has to do with the fact you could go into the logs and pump up people's stats.

Yea, Straferight servers are some of the best (not sucking up) and we do play on them quite a bit. It just all depends on what maps we want to play, for the most part.

When they're populated, they're very hard to get in-to (sR), or they are empty until they randomly and magically fill up. I often have to sit there click refresh/join until I can get in.
