new box, old game

So I'm playing BF2142 a bit again. What a piece of crap this game is in 2007. Really. Totally crap netcode, craptastic hitscans, and completely random happenstance combine for a good round of beer and laughter but not much else.

I'd rather watch 150 UEF combat bots chase my commander across the blue seas than deal with this nonsensical gameplay.

I hop onto the 2142 server and it's not five minutes into the game that I have five squad leaders barking gibberish into my ear that I can't even understand due to the CRAP ingame VOIP. USE THE DAMN RADIO VOICEOVERS, THEY HAVE A MUCH LARGER VOCABULARY THAN YOU WHACKJOBS.

And who the hell are these kids on the server these days? I need some old school NeverKnow, Teckng, Jobbie, Richard, squads that were a barrel of laughs even when the BF2 crap-o-meter was on full swing.

This game is crap. Quake Wars might be a game to play, but this one is just for stress relief and random frags while I fall asleep after a hard day's work.

ya its a shame...the game is once again built on a terrible server patch that crashes and EA doesn't seem to care.

it's days are numbered at StrafeRight

oh and i can't say much (due to NDA) but a few of us are in the Quake Wars beta and it really has potential

I thought it was junk when I played the demo, but you guys all went wild for it. Then again I didn't like BF2 after playing that demo. I sure hope Quake Wars is a winner.

well it actually wasn't too bad until they started patching...nerfing guns and making it a crash monster is no fun.

It is actually a little outrageous that you need a good box to play this game and the 20/2000 hindsight of EA's patching technique has always been lamentable and akin to screwing a hot girl with the clap. You know it is eventually going to be a painful, but it is fun while it lasts.

I have not seen the box req's for Quake Wars yet so I will reserve judgment. If previous Quake installments are an indication though I am going to require an upgrade as well to get a competitive framerate.

This BF2142 has got to stop. I was appalled at how much more I could see after upgrading my box and then realized that it was still crap despite my being able to pwn people with higher latency and lesser rigs.
