Lightbulb This computer

do you think this computer will be able to play BattleField 2142?

Desktop-E Machines, Intel Pentium D @3.0GHZ Dual Core//1GB RAM//250GB 7200RPM SATA HDD//DVD-+RW//Integrated 224mb GPU Shared//Vista Home Premium Edition

I'm downloading the demo right now and was wondering if this computer is good enough to play BF2142

I don't play BF, but, your computer looks good except you're probably going to need a non-onboard pci-express video card.

You will definitely need a pci-e graphics card.

you need a dedicated gfx card, and i think it has to be shader model 3.0 compatible. (I think thats why cards like the FX5200 cant run BF2/2142)

Mmmmm I dunno about that one Chode_Messiah. I have several non-shader model 3 cards that I use to play BF2/2142. My Radeon 9550 and FX5700 run them fine.....but, I could be wrong about that.

That being said, definitely look to buy a graphics card in the near future. Something in the Nvidia 7xxx series or ATI's X1xxx series should do nicely.
Hope that helps.

I'm also going to be doing a ram upgrade
I have to ram slots
1 stick of 512mb pc 4200ddr2 ram in each slot for 1GB
I want to 1 Gigabyte stick in each ram slot so that i have 2Gigs of ram
I'm checking out ram online right now

Kingston 1024MB PC4200 533Mhz DDR2 Memory KVR533D2N41G at TigerDirect.com

I would just have to order two of the ram stick in that link right?
and then i would have 2gigabytes of ram?

or this right here

Kingston 2048MB PC4200 533MHz Dual Channel DDR2 Memory (2 x 1024MB) KVR533D2N4K22G at TigerDirect.com

Yeah good move with the ram, youll need that for BF. If you have the money, get one 2 gig stick. Then you can upgrade later for less money/hassle
