| | | Cod4 Vista 64,iw3sp.exe Is there anyone out there that can help me with loading my Cod4 game. I know little to nothing about computers/language. I have tried all the fixes that Actovision have suggested and still no luck.My system:- Abit in9 32X MB,Core2quad 6600,OCZ 1010W,2G balistic ram,Asus 8800gt,Vista64 os. Activision have sent me a replacement copy and still no good. The game loaded but when I try to play I get "iw3sp,exe has stopped working",i have tried updating drivers, microphone plugged in,downloaded patches, turned off antivisus (kaspersky) and still no game.I cannot beleive that this is the game of the year with these loading problems. With 30 odd thousand hits on this problem on the forums there surely has to be a problem with the program. I must reiterate I know nothing about computers can anyone solve this pleeeeeeeeeeease. Mike:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad: |

| | | Hi there Tyrant,
well m8. i'm a virtual twit when it comes down to PC's and laptops - I can just about follow your instructions. anyhow - I've got the same problem as your friend Mexcola-the 1. only difference being, (and FYI,) I finished the game twice on standard and next level, now I 'm attempting it on the Veteran level and the messge stated appears and the game crashes, now this has happened a few times before though usually its when I attempt to close the program, and it doesnt ..close properly, but, not all times... this instance however it always happens around the same time into the level. I was playing the game from the CD. (dont know what a "no cd fix is" reference your note to mexcola) I've copied the whole contents of the CD, to a file in program files on my main hard drive(called it COD4MW - as in the CD.) Now if I try to install it it asks me I want to uninstall COD4 -, do I have to do this? Further more if I'm running the CD anyway, how & will the copied file "cargoship.ff" help?
I'm running Vista on a new Dell XPS same as MEXCOLA, can you please give small instructions to help my small brain in this life or death matter...
v.best, Mattyb. |

v.best, Mattyb. | Hi Matt, I originaly started the game on Veteran and on Vista so im sure your problem is quite similar. Basically the fix Tyrant gave me was to copy and replace the map/level file that was causing my game to crash each time it tried to load. The map for me was the 2nd level (cargoship) hence copying the good not faulty file from the CD and using it to replace the messed up one installed on my PC. A no cd patch replaces the games main launch file (.exe) so that the CD does not have to be used.

Ok I get the Idea, I copy the files from the CD to the Activision files that have been installed onto my hard drive. thing Is I need to know which files are relevent to the section I'm playing... the problem is occuring in the section where the primary objective is "Secure M1A2 Abriams tank stranded in the bog" Does you (or anyone) know which file to copy over??? or how I can find out?
(in the interests of trying to further orientate you where I am in the game) the section is also just after you complete the first Javalin assult on enemy tanks that are in the distance on a bridge
V. Best.

Mattyb. (threetospare):stupid: | I know the map you mean. It doesnt matter what stage of the mission your on its the same map. Im in work at the moment so I dont have a list of the ff files but I think it would be along the lines of "sp_bog.ff" that you would need to replace.

| | Okie dokie guys, I just downloaded the game off of Steam last night, went to the movies and came back to crashing from iw3sp.exe error. I browsed through the previous posts and tried the .bak fix but had no resolve.
Unlike the others however, I seem to crash randomly due to this mg: I open the game and play for 2-3 minutes to think its going fine, game is going smoothly, shooting peeps and then it freezes up on me and exits out to the error message that iw3sp.exe isn't working properly.
Id love to get you a command console picture of it, but Im not sure as to how  so if that is necessary and someone wouldnt mind walking me through it, much appreciations would be in order.
My computer specs are something like this - Vista 32 bit (Service pack 1)
- 8800 GTS
- Core 2 Duo E6850 @ 3.00GHZ
- 2 gigs memory
- Nvidia Mobo (Not sure which one and cant find the box
Any more information that is required please let me know |

I personally don't have an ASUS card or use Gamer OSD, so unfortunately I won't be able to test this for myself, but hopefully someone can figure this problem out. | Hi,
I had the same problem with the atklumdisp.dll from "GamerOSD" (which I don't ever used) and after uninstalled it, the game runs very well !! :P
So thank you very much, Tyrant
