Big Changes Coming To SR Ventrilo

We've opened up this ventrilo for many years to anyone who wants to use it, but at this time we're being forced to create a more controlled environment to ensure a better experience for those that regularly use the website and ventrilo channels. The changes listed below apply to any gaming group who is currently using a private channel on the main StrafeRight ventrilo server. All current StrafeRight server rooms and lounges will be uneffected by these changes.

In the coming weeks we are going to be making some big changes to the public StrafeRight Ventrilo server. In an effort to continue to hook up friends of the SR website that need a voice server, yet do away with some of the foreign elements that don't care about this site or our generosity, we are going to do away with all of the current public and private channels.

Any group that wishes to have a private channel with us will have to do the following:

1. All members of the group will be required to register on StrafeRight.com (minimum of ten user registrations per group to get a private channel)
2. The group must them make a thread in the Ventrilo forums requesting a private channel. The thread title must include the name of the gaming group, and all ten users must post in the thread.
3. After those steps, a StrafeRight admin will send a private message to the person who created the thread with further instructions.

If all requirements are met, and StrafeRight can provide a private channel for the gaming group (which is not guaranteed), the group will be required to post once a week in the forum thread where they requested a channel to communicate that they are using the channel on a regular basis. After 7 days of non-communication via the forums, the private room will be removed from the StrafeRight ventrilo server and the group will once again have to apply for a new one.

These changes will take effect in the coming weeks, and apply to everyone currently using the main public StrafeRight.com ventrilo server. Stay tuned to this thread for further information.

I like the idea. Had a link to this thread in my comment in vent all day yesterday (after Teck pointed it out to me). Still got asked twice.

Im in favor of the idea, sounds like less cluttering of empty channels

RobertUK says 'Good. It has been a lot easier just recently being able to say 'No' to people asking for a new channel.'

RobertUK was unavailable when asked for further comment on this issue.

PS - Please don't ask RobertUK why he is typing in 3rd person. He just feels like being awkward today...
