I just told that story the other day. I kinda wear it like a badge of honor now. like "I lived to tell the tale"

There's definitely something to that, but there are still servers at least as old as sR's old 24/7 Office shed and they're rocking all day long. But people's interests change, and their lives change. People move on from gaming to different priorities in life. They go to school, get married... but there's still new people entering the game. I don't know if Coffee Jr still plays, but I see Sleepy's oldest son in CS:S Office servers all the time. Even though old, it's still an awesome game with a lot of dynamics.
AND, yeah, a new engine CS:S paired up with HL2-Ep3 would be part of an incredible new Orange Box. That'd likely renew interest and draw back a lot of players.
Me, I go in spurts. I just saw I'd been playing 20+ hours a week recently. That after a long time simply not playing at all.

I was playing in the SR BF2 server mostly every night with the same people in the same squad.
Teck, one of the people, always hounded us to join the forums.
The rest, as they say, is history.
I came to Straferight from the guys who played in the BF2 server.
I think it was Raptor, Mundane Raptor, Mcgruff, and Teck who were playing and I joined their squad and we played for a few nights then I joined and we were on every night after that. Since college has started and I am working a full time job as a game tester, the time has been very minimal. It would be great to get the guys back in battlefield 3 when it comes out though.
