| Your success/failure rates for systems After my new ps3 took a crap within the first 20-30 minutes, I thought it might make an interesting thread to see what our success / failure rates were with console / handheld systems. I've read various reports of what other sites say, not really what the post is about. I Figured I'd list them as a success/failure ratio from my own experience and see how others fared w/ their consoles. Here is a list of the main ones I can think of that I've owned (as far as Sony, MS, Nintendo and Sega):
PSP: 2 owned. 1 broken shoulder button, replacement worked fine.
1/1 - 50% failure rate.
PS3: 1 broke (haven't had a chance to receive the replacement)
1/? - at least a 50% at this point.
ps2: 1 broke cd/dvd drive, replacement is still working well.
1/1 - 50% failure rate.
xbox 360: 1 ring of death, replacement is still working well.
1/1 - 50% failure rate.
xbox: owned *cough* 4 xbox's and each one worked like a peach until I sold or traded them. (yea, I know owning 4 total is just ... wacky)
4/0 - 0% failure rate (as far as when I owned them all)
Nintedo: I'll clump my Wii, Gamecube, 64, Super NES, Gameboy, DS, GBA and NES all in one clump. I've owned one of each and they all worked great without a failure yet that I can remember.
8/0 - 0% failure rate
Sega: I'll again clump my Dreamcast, Saturn and Genesis into one clump. I've owned one of each and they worked great until I stopped playing them, or got rid of them.
3/0 - 0% failure rate
From my personal experiences Sony's have been unreliable (3 out of 5 systems fail), Microsoft has an acceptable failure rate (1 out of 6 systems fail) and Sega and Nintendo just kick major butt with having quality hardware.
It just made me chuckle when I was thinking about this before writing it. I always defend MS when compared to the Wii at work (co-workers love the Wii) ... once I thought about it, I've had better luck w/ Nintendo then MS or Sony.
