| | | HELP!!! My laptop wont run cs right anymore!!! I have an asus z70va...should be in my sig...i was able to run cs:s fine until about a month ago. it all of a sudden started running with lag on and off. i run speedfan and NHC to keep the laptop quiet cause the fans are loud. there was never a problem until recently. i am also running the latest omega drivers adn the ati website wont let me download the latest catalyst drivers for my x700. i went onto steam's help site and of course it didnt help. anyone have any clue as to what i should do? i might just reformat and see what it does, but i wanna avoid doing that. Can anybody help me?

: 89 th | | | 54 is A LOT of processes... you should be in the 40 range... i would suggest googling each processe and making sure it isn't a virus or spyware... or close some freakin programs ... anything in your tray at the bottom right, exit out of ... you probably don't need it... |

| | | Any heat build up will slow down the cpu or the gpu, so that's a good place to start. Can you set up NHC or something else to have the fans all full all the time and see if you have the issue?
It's also surprising how a little dust on the radiator for the heatsink can really make a difference to the temps. Also make sure any intake vents aren't blocked or dusty to maximize air flow through the case.
You should have some sort of spyware removal software, I'd recommend Adaware SE personal for most people. It's free, and it will remove known spyware from your system. Adaware gets much more than Norton does...
If all else fails, you might want to do a reformat and reinstall of Windows. After a while, the registry gets loaded up and can cause all kinds of inefficiencies that can slow down your system.

| | | Not trying to get things off topic, but I'm interested in the cleaning of the airflow ports thing. Seeing how I just got a laptop, I'm new to a lot of things, and I think it's probably a good idea to get to know about cleaning out the vents, as I will be making this baby run hot a lot of the time, playing the BF series and CSS.
Do you like take the case apart and shoot compressed air through, or is it alright to shoot the air inwards while its running so that it just blows back out? Or just to create your own artificial airflow with the compressed air?
Oh yeah, forgot to mention. My lappy has an ATI Radeon x1400 in it, and I have problems with changing my resolution after coming back from standby, however a restart has fixed the issue. I installed the newest catalyst drivers and things have been working well for me, so you may also try installing new drivers if you can't find a problem with spyware, processes, or overheating.

| | I might be of some help so i shall post my two-bits.
1) Sames you used to be able to run this without any problems, have you or anyone in your family installed any shady programs lately; such as something that might include spyware that you agree to have on your machine; as according to the end user license agreement(EULA).
2) Have you tried running any spyware or anti-virus removel programs such as; Spyware Removal) Lavasoft's ad-aware, Spybot Search and Destroy. Anti-Virus) Norton, Avast. Mcaffee, AVG. If So, which have you done and what programs?
3) Have you played with any of your computer settings recently or cs:s settings that might cause the lag? Like Omega drivers, overclocking features or perhaps increased resolution and maximum graphics within cs:s.
4) To Help even further determine what maybe wrong with your laptop you may want to post a "hijackthis" log. See Here for the hijackthis program
Cheers, and hope you get this solved.
