Dissapearing menu buttons on css

Ok, so steam decided to update itself today, and when i restarted counterstrike later on, steam did the whole stupid program not responding thing and i had to force it to close through task manager.

Then when i restarted it and started css, all the menu buttons, join server, create server, etc were missing. In order to get them back i had to go the properties for css in steam and "verify game data" or whatever.

and now every time i exit css i have to redo the whole verification process in order to play my damn game.

I checked the console after starting the game and it has "
Couldn't find custom font file 'resource/HL2EP2.ttf'
Couldn't find custom font file 'materials/vgui/fonts/buttons_32.vbf'" recorded in the log.

Very wierd. So what do i need to do, reinstall css?

zomg hl2ep2!11!1one anyway, i did a search for both of those files and i dont have them, css works fine though. i would suggest checking out the support section of steampowered.com . valve usually has good info on problems.

Yeah i looked for the files as well, and they didnt exist... but still.

Wonder if deleting client.dll will help

See steam is running uber slow also... like when i click tabs it barely wants to reopen.

Im afriad im not only looking at a css reinstall but a steam reinstall as well.

ya reinstall steam, you may not have to reinstall all teh gamezorz! they may have a steam repair utility

sorry i dont follow... but if theres a way to reinstall steam and still have all my games and not make a 4 hour download, im definitely interested!

Steam updated? Didn't do that for me, that's weird.

Have you tried opening the steam window and clicking File > Settings > Interface > and choosing another skin? Maybe the update messed something up? Check out my sig, that's what my steam updater says all the time.

Anyway trip, and others, I uninstalled steam, and downloaded + installed it again, now im copying all the crap from the old directory to the new one so hopefully steam will realize my games are back and let me play.

Oh, also gonna dig up an old disc of TFC i have and try it out. I never played it before, and with all the hype on TF2 coming out i figure i better.

Is it hard to add an old game like that to steam?

Thats wierd? it still worked for me with the stuff on the side. reinstall if you havent yet?
