Steam Problem

Not sure what is wrong with my steam

But evertime I click to go onto it wont do anything

It should be starting up when I start my pc

So if anyone knows what I can do to get this fixed or back working please tell me thx

Make sure your account wasn't hijacked. If it was, then the thief probably has a different password.
If it wont automatically log in it's because you either don't have it enabled to startup with Windows or your password isn't saved.

This is a weird issue. Have you tried rebooting? Maybe it's stalling because your system has too many programs running in the background? If you don't get any suggestions, I suggest you reinstall.

check task manager (ctrl alt del) and see if the process is running; it's called steam. i thing i have run into this with steam and opera, i click it and it wont run. when i check task manager, it is running twice. ending each task and trying again fixed the issue. also, sometimes when i click steam it takes 30-45 seconds to start

I have tryed rebooting 2 times and it still does not let me go to it

I click on it and it does nothing

It says the process is running Steam.exe :/

Ive noticed this aslo when im holding the cursor over the steam icon all it says is Steam

And other programs are like

Source Dedicated Server
Location C:/Program Files Steam

So im not sure but I think it is my Steam client because it is showing up nowere

I dont want to have to reinstall the whole CS:S DOD:S HL2M because their is no 100% chance of it working and it took forever the 1st time I done it

Anyone know what could be wrong forsure now?

try deleting a file called client.blob or somethign close to that in i believe your steam folder

Still didnt work after that

I made a copy of it so I could back it up

And I put it back

Is your computer lagging while it tries to run steam?
In task manager, what is the CPU usage?
Try opening task manager (by either right click task bar and clicking on Task Manager -or- pressing ctrl + alt + delete keys at the same time)
Check the processes tab, it shouldn't be more than 5K. If it's more than 5K, right click it and end process, try running it again.
If the problem still persist, right click the process and click Set Priority > Below Normal
Then try Above normal
Sounds like the executable is hanging and not running at all because of it. This happened to me once before, I'd click the steam icon, and nothing would happen. It wouldn't show the connection progress or anything. It was just sitting there in Task Manager.

You have to register first if you aren't.

Also, what kind of operating system are you running? System specifications such as RAM (memory), Processor(s), Video Card, Sound Card, etc. This may not sound important now, but it may help us find the root of the problem.

Sounds like a software issue, but it can just as easily be a hardware issue.

Try what I said above, if it fails, post the specifications I asked for above and post at the steam forums.

if you wanna check your start-up programs do this

click start> Run> and type "msconfig" (w/o quotes)
and go to the start up tab

The CPU usage is around the 15-30 range not much lag or atleast it dosent feel like lag

Home Version 2002
4 CPU 1.80GHz
1.79 GHz,512 MB of RAM

My Video card = GEFORCE 6200 AGP8X 256MB DDR2

Im not sure were to find about about the sound card if anyone could tell me I would say what it is

Im going to go ahead and post at the Steam fourms about the problem hopefully someone will know and help me out im awaiting them to allow me to post right now

Aslo I checked and it said it was on my startup

And still if any of you know what the problem is now please help me

A person over at steam fourms gave me a program to run and it seemed to fix it atleast it runs now hopefully it stays working
