Can someone help me with a CS:S problem?

Aight, so I have two problems that I suspect are linked with one another.

1. I can't run ventrio while in game. Well technically I can, but when I try to talk or some one is talking its starts lagging out and crashes my game. So I have to restart my computer and a good time is not had.

2. My game keeps crashing and says that it can't connect to the VAC network, not logged into steam, or some crap like that. I have a temporary solution to this one that works most of the time. It is for me to log off steam friends, which puts me at somewhat of a disadvantage if I would like to talk to someone who is not on my xfire or ventrilo(which wouldn't work anyway).

This things are really frusterating me. So if someone could help me out it would be greatly appreciated.

This doesn't seem like a likely solution, but you can try turning off the Xfire in game chat for CSS. I know that feature causes trouble with certain games.

The thing is they all worked well together.
Then one day my dad took out the ram in the computer to see its specs and put it back in, now everythings all weird. It looks like this could be the problem, but we've taken it out an put it back in several times to make sure it was put in right.

ya thats def strange. a simple RAM swap shouldn't have that effect. have you checked your codecs and in/out sources in Vent? you want to make sure they're not conflicting with something Winblows is using

I think you hit the nail with the RAM. I'm betting either a contact is dirty, a terminal pin was bent, or some static damaged one of the chips. Do a google search for a program to check your RAM, or maybe someone here could suggest one. It sure sounds like you're running out of resources... and if this happened after someone pulled a RAM card and reinstalled it...
