Lag-like freezes

During gameplay, every 8 seconds, I experience a 2 second "lag out" where everything freeze and all the objects on the map like corpses and guns seem to reset. I tried defragging my hard drive and the game cache, as well as increasing the priority on the process, but none of them worked. Can someone help me, please?

Could be getting too hot. Clean out the dust bunnies or monitor your temperatures for a bit.

a reformat of windows or a reinstall of steam and cs usually cures most issues like that, barring its not your connection.

Is it only CS:S or does it happen in Windows too?

I had a similar situation, but it was around every minute. I'd freeze and unfreeze. Mine, if I was running, and I kept the button pressed, I'd warp to where I was intending to go.
Mine "fixed itself" after a week of hair pulling and ineffective attempts to fix the problem
Try this- play in windows mode and have the task manager up. See if the CPU usage jumps, network activity, memory, etc.

yeah, generally just watch your task window and resources. If you can't figure it out, turn off every goddamn thing you can find and try that.

Almost sounds like a background process, or maybe virus, choking out your system.
