Noob's getting started guide?

So I keep hearing/seeing CS:S stuff and get little more interested each time reading about the fun and what not. I was wondering/suggesting some sort of sticky as to some general info about getting started. Maybe explaining what CSS is, how to get setup where to get it from etc.

Most of that info I have gathered and is not hard to find but it would still be helpfull. I don't know alot about Steam but I understand its purpose of content delivery for games and what not. I keep thinking hrm...should I try CSS...or not. Its only $20 right...not a big loss if I don't get into it. I'm not a hardcore gamer but I do play a significant ammount of time...with the right game. I play WoW off and on seems like in spurts. When I get board I hit up a FPS or a racing game. Currently NFS:MW (haven't played in some time). The FPS i keep going back to ...and don't laugh...is C&C Renegade, I don't know why but that game never gets old for me. I pre-ordered the game and have played it off and on ever since. Maybe because its so simple you can put more effort into actually playing and strategies. Anyway I played the crap out games like Rogue Spear series back in the day as well. My roomate and I would stay up all hours of the night doing terrorist hunts, or playing others online. I guess I'm wondering what type of game CSS is? Is it something similiar? I think another reason I like Renegade still is because its complete action and fast paced. After seeing the age thread also I see a pretty mature aged group playing which is plus for me (26yrs old) Renegade is becoming poluted with young kids and cheaters. I know like with the RS series its more "real life" type of scenarious and actions. Is there a demo I can try out? Point me in the direction or tell me to get the F away LOL

Thanks for any info.

css is a counter-terrorist versus terrorist game.... there are two types of games you can play on many different maps. you can either play defuse, where the terrrorists try to plant a bomb in 1 of 2 bomb sites, or the other type is hostage rescue... where the terrorists are holding 4 hostages and the cts have to rescue the hostages. a team can win by completing there objective (e.g. blowing up the bomb or rescuing hostages) or they can win by completely killing the other team. i personally LOVE THIS GAME and it is most definately worth the 20 dollars. i must admit it is different from most other first person shooters. it is very fast paced and you have to learn how to use the recoil for each gun (trust me its easy). my vote is GO BUY IT RIGHT NOW
