Fix my rates?

I was playing this game, sometimes it lags sometimes it doesn't. on a map were it was lagging a guy kept telling me to "Fix my rates" what does this mean and how do I do it.?

It means setting your rates to the optimum for the server, if its a 100 tick, you type in console:

cl_cmdrate 100
cl_updaterate 100
rate 25000

what was ur ping? I know if its like really low they call it rate hacking

Its not that its low, its low AND you teleport like mad.

Cmdrate has to be like 10 i think

The number on your scoreboard next to deaths, the higher the worse, ie higher time its taking to ping the server

Well that's actually latency.. ping is only viewable through net_graph #

You would notice if it was ping though, because you'd be lagging like hell.. weapons don't come out when you command them too.. shots don't register.. scope doesn't scope correctly.. it's a nightmare.

but like you said, you were lagging.. so it probably was your connection or maybe you played a server that's too far from you (ex: you live east, and join a west coast server)

I joined a game and I played pretty good, no lag really, then we went to a new map and it was so laggy I had to quit,

Well yeah it could be your computer cpu/ram/graphics card esp if it lags on an fps intensive map.
