H3llo everywan!!! i'm back on teh assault servers XD
remember me? the guy with the ping problems

I stopped playing cause of classes taking up most of my time, gmod, and our so called "better" ISP.

this isp is 2x of what we had (1mbps) but the ping is freaking HIGH on the assault server! luckily though we had it disconnected and our old connection brought back (512kbps )

so I dont have much problems except that my ping is now jumping up and down like 200ms (YESS!! IT WENT THAT LOW ) to like 600ms (AGAIN!?!?!)

So to get my question on the tables I have these following specs on my laptop:

HP Pavilion dv9000
Intel Core2Duo 1.66ghz t5500
2gb ram
256mb Nvidia GeForce go7600
Windows Vista
Internet connection 512kbps up/down
D-link DI-524 wireless (sometimes I plug the cable so I don't lose packets)


are these specs enough to run a small CSS/Gmod10 server? I got tired of the jumping pings on a lot of servers I've been to.

also about the router, I tried port forwarding it from the site (portforward.com I think I forgot lol) and set up a dedicated css server, but my friends (those who live in the same country as me LOL) cannot connect even when I send them the IP address.

I wanted to know how to set up a server so I dont have to unplug the dsl modem from the router and getting my siblings angry for me forgetting to plug it back in XD.

I just want to make a temporary server where me and some of my friends can play wiht very low pings (LOL). also I wanted to feel to have admin powers (it would be fun to slap myself on the server while everyone's wtfbbq at me lol).

don't worry, you'll still see me in the assault server, whenever there's more than 5 people playing in it (not bots) .

I just really want to have a server whenever your server (we use your server as a benchmark) to see if we can play on other servers that are non-local.
Also there's no servers here in the Philippines .

please merge this if there are any topics related to this one, (I didnt see any though)

uhh *sighs* i went ahead and tried on my own, port forwarded, "DMZ", placed on static ip, and tried

but it doesn't work lol can anyone teach me, I'm setting up a temporary server for gmod10/css whenever we have high pings on your servers lol.

can anyone teach me? cause im getting saddened that i am FAILING in this endeavor of mine LOL.

Welcome to Steam

Go to the forums, then to the source dedicated server section. There's a tutorial stuck at the top of the forum. Good luck.

OMG i completely forgot about steam LOL THANKS XD!!

it seems that when i tried to create a listen server, i thought that the ip that my console gives me is the ip of the "listen server" apparently not. good thing my cousin pointed out that he found the server thru the internet games tab thing when looking for a server lol, it displayed a different ip than the one my console gave me :o.

anyway thanks a lot for the help, and reading this weird thread of mine lol.... admin you may lock/ delete/ maul/slap/rape/mute/gag/merge this thread nao thanx
