Nah, the biggest gains are to be had in computing large integers (not floating points), as well as multimedia. When you're dealing with video files that can be 2 terabytes in size, there's room for improvement. Allowing you to address the entire file at once will benefit applications greatly. Like I said, though, 64-bit is mostly for high-end business stuff.

Sorry for the old thread revival,
I always thought 6 4 bit was better O well Guess not
I wish 32 bit would recognize all4 gigs of ram I don't have that much but hey it would be nice

64-bit won't recognize all 4gb either.

There are motherboards out there that will remap the memory hole and let you use it, but they're mostly server boards.

Crysis cranked on my 8800 GTX would crash on 32-bit and leave the whole system unstable because it would occupy too much RAM, breaking the 2 GB ceiling for processes' address space. This was on XP 32-bit with 4 GB of RAM. I turned down the settings a bit, and it was completely fine--never crashed once.

A month later, I came into the possession of both another 4 GB of RAM and XP 64-bit.

Crysis runs fine now :-D
