Diablo III: Blizzard Looking for New Diablo III Art Director

Not enough information to go and make viable assumptions yet, but it does make one wonder. I'll update as info becomes available.

In the mean time, thoughts? predictions? general asshat comments?

Idk, I think it's a little ridiculous that they're twisting everything around so much. I read an article on Pennyarcade where the art directors "tore apart" fan-submitted renderings of D3 screenshots, and the guys didn't even really bash the screenies that much? They said a few things along the lines of "well, this amount of darkness would inhibit gameplay" etc., but I honestly think people are reading way too much into this.

These guys know what they're doing, and even though I'm still a little skeptical of the art scheme I still have faith that these guys will put together a game that's a fine successor to D2. Signing a petition? No thanks.

actually UI i think that may be the reason behind all this. when the diablo 3 art director ripped up those photoshopped screens done by fans, in terms of PR that was a retarded move. the fans didnt make those screens because they thought the game was going to be terrible if it wasnt just to their liking. They were trying to protect a game series they loved. diablo 2 is something iconic to pc gamers. just as halo is to xbox fanboys.

making an outward show that you dont give a shit about what ~55 thousand gamers think isnt a good way to show that this game is being made for the players.

Its kinda like saying "We know what you want and thats what we're making, now dont tell us about what you want in the game." its a hugely elitist douchebag move.

A much more acceptable move would have been to say the art direction is changing because technology has changed, and make promises to the players that its still diablo even if it looks different, that it won't be a detriment to the game or the series.
