FEAR: a game that truly tests out your system

Great demo great game. Really tests out your system well.
Seems to run well on ATI cards and slower/choppyier on Nvidia cards from all the posts I have read across many forums.
Will buy in Oct when it comes out.

more like crap code and memory leaks testing out your system... at least seems that way from the short lil demo.

I cant wait to try this game. I'm gonna leave the demo to download overnight and play in the morning. How much fun is the multiplayer? It looks fun as hell.

Eh, by calling it a demo, I'd say the code is more final than if it was in a beta. This game is getting ready to ship very soon so I won't be surprised if the retail version runs the same as the demo did. Besides, they had a playable beta test a couple of months ago.

I've got a Sager 9880, 3ghz, 1gig 533mhz ddr2, 256mb Nvidia 6800 Ultra, and with F.E.A.R., it's the first game to bring the system to it's knees with everything maxxed out.

If I run the demo with 2aa, 2af, textures at medium, no soft shadows, reflections at medium, 1024 X 768 rezz, everything else max, it runs flawlessly.

Still, this IS a demo...maybe not beta but, not quite final either. I wouldn't be surprised if there were a tweak or 2 to the engine before it ships, not to mention the fact that damn near everything gets patched after release.

A patch...or 2, and maybe it will run even better?

Very impressive demo though. The AI of the enemies is SUH-WEET!!!! I've never seen guys crawl under stuff, to get away from me, before.

okay this is wierd.. I have a dell I9100 with standard everything! and I am talking only 64mb ati9700 pro 8x agp. 512mb of ram on a 5400 rpm hard drive..

I had picked up the 10$ presale beta version.. downloaded it (500mb) and to my suprise the game ran GOOD!!! and the grahpics were really damn good too!

I was only running at 1024x768 on my 1280x800 native res 15.4inch

but.. I dont remember what settings the game was on.. I think it was on default..

I put all the settings on high and the only thing that affected me much was the detail level, becuase I only have 512Mb of ram, and the lighting in certain spots. You can fix a lot of the slowdown by turning down specific settings but what most people complain about as slowdown is really just the system running out of ram.

Yes in order to have decent playing experience a Gig of ram is needed. Ideally 1.5 gigs is want you will want to allow for 300 megs being used by the XP system and apps.
Plays very well with settings on High on a 3.0 P4 HT 1 gig system with a 9800 Pro w/128. 2xAA 4xAF 1024x768 The 6800s should be very playable at 1600x1200.
BTW after really studying this F.E.A.R. demo for hours I can say now that the graphics are as good as HL2 and Doom3 and FarCry. The water effects are excellent and the use of multiple shadows is amazing . The AI is the most advanced in any game to date.
I would say the ideal system for running this game when it comes out in October is a P4 3.2 HT or P4M 2.0 with 2 gigs of RAM and at least an X800 card or an GO 6800 card each with 256 megs of video ram.
