I guess these people don't understand that PC people don't want this console shit. That's why we have PCs. If we want matchmaking we'll play on a console.
Fuckin' A right!

There are many perspectives for this, unfortunately I can't find one good one for PC gamers. All of the implications are bad.

1. The publishers forced the "feature" for time saving (best case scenario):
Since consoles are all the rage, it's possible that in order to have the game be released on time they stayed with the console match-making. Code is already there for multi-platforms, why spend more money on just 1? They can eventually patch a browser and dedicated server at a time when it's ready. The important thing is to get it out on time! If there's enough noise about it, maybe, they will consider dedicated server support.

2. A way to show that console gamers and PC gamers are in the same demographic:
If the game sells big in both markets then the argument can be made that there is no difference so why try to add more features to one platform over another? Build it for consoles and PC will follow.

3. A way to show that PC game buying is declining
:
If this sold mega amounts in the console market but not nearly the same figures in PC with a franchise like this, why devote time to PC? The resources to spend on PC outweigh what PC's market share is. Development focus can now be spent on the cash cow instead of a dying horse.

4. A way to make money and have more control over the content in game:
This can be a way for them to add and control dynamic adverts to maps; a way to control exactly what content gets played (DLC maps, DLC weapons); and is a way to possibly restrict access to "premium" servers where there are more players, maps, and content. Money, money, money!

I really hope they reconsider. I can only see this as a slap in the face of the market that made COF what it is. As much as I've tried to see a good, PC perspective for doing this, I can't find any. Even if my best case is right, this still doesn't bode well for our demographic.

Fixed.

Basically now all we have to look forward to is BF:BC2 and L4D2. So much for one of the greatest Q4/Q1 combination of all time.

But basically IW just betrayed the group of people that made them a ton of money with CoD1/2.

it's gone from a "must buy pre-order" to a "I'll think about it on a Steam discount weekend", it'll be interesting to see how this plays out between now and release...and for those of you who like the whole online petition thing, there's this...

I didn't understand a damn thing pale or gargs said... lol

What fee?

This is why I like the console. No non-sense, the game is out there and simple. You have an update, it tells you right away, and takes almost no time. You can play with friends, or not. Everything is there except for custom servers and any additional content made by gamers.

Which is why I think it should be cheaper on the consoles anyway. But, I think the biggest, and part I hate most, is the size of the games are way too limited.
