Faked, enhanced, or otherwise augmented screenshots are commonly called "bullshots." Their intent is to make a game look more appealing than it actually is, and their occurrence has largely existed since video games were first commercialized. So are bullshots misleading or just good marketing? "Exceptionally misleading," says Steven Kent, author of The Ultimate History of Video Games. But that doesn't mean Kent wouldn't employ the practice were he a game publisher. "It's kind of like negative campaigning in politics," he says. "Everybody hates it, nobody respects it, but it's the upstanding guy who won't stoop that gets blasted." In other words, bullshots are a harsh reality.
They're also influential. "Players look to screenshots to quickly solidify several elements of any given title in their mind: Theme, perceived quality, variety of content, and how the product compares to contemporaries," says Scott Steinberg, author of Videogame Marketing and PR. "A passing glance is enough to set the tone for thousands of viewers."
Games are not meant to be seen in freeze frame, but in full action. It's kinda hard not to doctor a released screenshot, because sometimes it looks worse than it actually is in game
That's pretty lame. The bullshot looks waaaaay different than the gameplay video. I also like how one of the guys on that page says the PS3 looks better then the 360 in
video. I honestly think the 360 looks nicer and clearer, not as blurry and more detailed. I could be wrong though but I don't own either and my 8800 GT would probably own both of these
The video at the end of the page with the model is crazy though. I always thought the models didn't look as good when I met them and sawr their pics right next to em. Photoshop bullsh!t...

that game looks about as good as the one for the PS2... for both the PS3 and 360 (and it's crappy imho for that fact :P)
I'm not surprised though - most of the time when I look at game images I take it with a grain of salt until I actually see it in motion. Been playing games for a long time I guess...
