| | | Valve's Lombardi on Counter-Strike 2 Quote:
"I just don't think that [Counter-Strike 2] would be a good fit [with Half-Life Episode 3]," added Valve co-founder Gabe Newell, noting that the potential game would be a stand-alone product in his eyes.
Newell closed with a dangerous challenge: "But if I get 15,000 emails from customers in response to this interview telling me 'Of course it should be in [the next Orange Box],' then of course we'll pay attention to that."
| I would love a CS2. What do you guys want in it? I guess you should start emailing Valve!!!! Read Interview here

| | I see this kind of like ut3.... while it may look prettier, sales might not boom; most people havent even moved to source from 1.6 yet.

Are you saying that CSS is complete fail?
Because the reason people didn't flock from UT2004 to UT3 was because UT3 is a fucking terrible game. Great engine, but a failure of a product. |

Alot of people havent moved from UT99 to 2k4 yet actually, so in this analogy cs:s ~ Ut2k4. |

| | Bullshit there won't be a consumer base for a possible CS:S2. Sure, there will still be people dedicated to CS 1.6, CS:S, and even 1.5, but at the same time there will be thousands of servers in CS:S2 within a week of its release.
It won't be like UT3, because it won't fail. |

| | Sigh.... loosen your grip on my analagy naiive one.
I said I wasnt comparing UT3 to CS2, I am comparing source to ut2k4 in that the OLDER VERSION (ut99/cs 1.6) still has more players than the current one. Im sure yankee could draw you up the figures for how many 1.6'ers there are compared to source, but I know its at least twice as many.
Again, I didn't say cs2 would fail, but I'm saying it *might* not do as well as a standalone product if people are resistant to it.... package deal will probably work better for valve, and thats what they've done for the most part in the past. If it ain't broke don't fix it right?
When I bought cs:s, I didn't even play it, it just got the HL2 collectors edition, logged onto steam just for updates to hl2. But boy, am I glad css was there when I tried it later, cuz I was blown away.
Doubt Gabe will get those 15,000 emails |

| | | Its going to be the same story over and over. People are going to fight kicking at screaming just like the switch from 1.6 to source, and just like every other update before that. All I know is that I probably won't be playing it, 9 years is way to long to play any game in my opinion. |

| | | If they come out with it, some new gameplay styles maybe. More weapons, a more in-depth game overall, I think it will still be playable.

| | I never played 1.6 before, even when I used to play half life 1, but I tried it for the first time last week, I wanted to puke.
Not just the graphics I hated the gameplay as well. bleh |
