Blizzard Getting Into Online Delivery Of Game Titles

Look out Valve, Blizzard is poised to join the party with their own version of PC content and delivery via a new online store and distribution platform. Not only can you buy games, but you can register your existing CD keys with them and be able to access your owned games anywhere in the world. From Shacknews...

A new beta lottery program is also available, allowing registered users to be automatically entered into a drawing for beta access. However, no public betas are known to be underway.

I don't think that SC2/D3 will be exclusive for a few weeks. That would be fail. I'd rather see them team up with Valve and put this stuff on steam though

This is clearly a shot across the bow of Steam. They are competing devices. Blizzard will never be on Steam.

The thing Blizzard really has is WoW. All the online content with WoW really helps put blizzard's foot in the door for their own online content delivery system. I don't think it could match steam, at least not for a while.

Blizzard is owned by Activision... they are a huge company with a lot of resources. It was only a matter of time until someone came out with the 'other' Steam platform. This could be good for consumers, as most competition usually is.

If they add that stuff to Steam, it's as good as sold. Other than Steam, there's really nowhere else that I'd actually want to buy digital downloads.
