| no one is going to 'win' the console battle, there are too many of each console for any to lose.
it's not like the blu-ray/HD-DVD battle, where all the studios fall into line to get their costs down and distribution up. Game companies individually decide what to code for, depending on factors from developer ability to game type to history.
Without a true leader in sales (not counting Nintendo, whose graphics ability doesn't allow for some games), game companies are free to developer for PS3 or 360.
Competition is good. Anyone that wants a single console that plays any game is looking at an $800 console, $80 games and a monopoly of epic proportions, with no underwritten hardware or services to benefit the consumer.
