A laboratory robot called Adam has been hailed as the first machine in history to have discovered new scientific knowledge independently of its human creators.
Adam formed a hypothesis on the genetics of bakers’ yeast and carried out experiments to test its predictions, without intervention from its makers at Aberystwyth University.

| | | Pretty slick. Let me know when it starts designing minions for itself.
Sort of related, some friends have a little robot floor sweeper which is kind of cool. It rolls around the house sucking up dirt and such; there are built in proximity sensors that keep it from crashing into anything. It can take all day but the little bugger will eventually sweep the entire house. Sometimes it will get stuck in the hallway though. |

| | | Yeah sort of, but so far it hasn't spent several hours having a conversation with the refrigerator or tried to take a dump in the clothes hamper. |
