Monitor prob

hey guys, woke up today and my monitor was black - I woke it up and it was still black. I restarted my computer, unplugged the monitor from both the tower and power, turned it on and off, turned the brightness and contrast up on the monitor menu, still black. I cant see anything but when i mess with the menu on the monitor i can see a faint little box (the menu im assuming) and when i press my windows key i can barly see it. It's an old computer that runs at 60 degrees, but it has been that hot for years, im thinking it may have burned out? or maybe its the monitor, im not sure, so im asking you.

Is it a CRT monitor (big monitor) or Flatscreen? Do you have a extra monitor to use to see if it may be bad?

To me it either sounds like a bad monitor or a graphics card issue, I would try finding a different monitor to check the tower on because if it works then it would be the monitor if it doesnt I would try a different graphics card

If it's an LCD it sounds like the back light went out.

What kind of LCD was it? and are you willing to part with it since it doesn't work?

That would be my first guess. After you said you could faintly see the menu image, it sounds like the back light.

Also, I should note that you may not use this code in your own applications. If you want to reduce a variable by 89, you'll have to find another way to do it.
