sR hats?

Ok, so if you haven't seen what the shirts look like (I think they're sweet) check in the shirt thread. The good news is the shirt guy also makes hats. For hats we have some options as to how the design is put on the hats as well as what hats we want.

The poll is Embroidery vs Vinyl. The shirt guy has a special heat-press to put Vinyl onto caps in the same way names were put on the last shirt order. This is pretty inexpensive and doesn't require a massive order.

Embroidery as you know it is stitching a design or text into the face of the hat itself. Now Embroidery lasts far longer than the Vinyl will, but the logo that Dan gave us will have to be digitized which costs money, and the caps themselves can be pretty spendy. The shirt guy has a Toyota CNC embroidery machine that does some mighty fine work. I get my work polos embroidered. However due to the digitizing and time needed for a complicated piece, we'd need as large an order as possible. What's also cool about the embroidery though is that you can get a bigger variety of caps embroidered. Like stocking caps or regular ball caps and even visors.

In a nutshell....

Vinyl pros:
Least expensive
Small minimum order
Design for screen print can be modified for the caps

Vinyl Cons:
Doesn't last as long
Only ball caps, no stocking caps or other hats.
Slow to make with a complicated design.

Embroidery Pros:
Durable
Can be put on a variety of items
Looks nice

Embroidery Cons:
Expensive compared to vinyl
large minimum order
logo would have to be sent to a digitizer.

So there's our options, and just to get a general interst, vote for what you'd like best.

i'd like a ballin'-ass sR 59/50 hat. might have to take a design to the embroidery stand at the mall one day....

i'd take one depending on the style, they'd be more expensive but i'd only really want a fitted hat that's embroidered

i think it'd be a lot more work than the shirts but we should check into it

Fitted hats are expensive. Trucker hats are not. Let's get trucker hats! Me for one would go for a hat with a simple "sR.:." Logo on it. That would be sweet.

Trucker hats are also retardedly geigh Ashton Kutcher-looking crap no one actually wears, that just sits the closet with Coffee. Price really shouldn't be an issue for a nice custom hat such as this, (or what I'm imagining anyway.)

I'd say if we're doing this it really needs to be done right so it doesn't look like "Bob's Garage's" owner's wife's weekend sewing machine project.

The hardest part in this will be getting everyone's size right. You're going to have to go to the store and try on fitted hats (or look on one you already have) to get the exact correct size before they're ordered. If you don't look and end up with the wrong size because you guessed it's no one's fault but your own.
