Half Life 2 Collector Edition = Fancy T-shirt and box?

Is it worth it to get the Collectors edition of Half-Life 2 or is the regular version just as good when it comes to gaming content?

i think the collector's edition also includes all the old games, like half life 1, the original counter strike, etc. so i guess its worth it

Ok, so it is worth it? Because I saw someone say this about it:

Quote:
To make sure you understand what you are getting:
1) Half Life 2 - The game
2) Half Life 1 Remake using the new Source Engine
3) Counter Strike Remake using the new Source Engine
4) Prima Official Hint Book
5) A T-Shirt

The game itself is awesome, no questions asked. The remake of Half Life 1 is cool too, but you can download that for free when you buy the regular version of Half Life 2. The same is true for CS. So basically, you get a t-shirt (which is actually a nice shirt) and the prima thingy.
:End Quote

So if I buy Half-Life 2 I can download Half Life 1 with the new Source Engine? Is that correct what this guy is saying?

Get the Silver package off Steam. You get all the new games and back catalog like the Gold/CE package, but you don't get the hat/shirt/guide and you save a couple bucks.

Get HL2 Gold off Steam instead of Collectors edition.

If you want the shirt and that cool stuff. you get MUCH more stuff in Gold than the collectors edition.

But if you jsut want all the games get the Silver Edition.

meh, you used to be able to get an import version for pretty cheap, but I think that's now sold out...

you can get a retail boxed version from newegg for $30 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16832128118 - it's equivalent to the bronze package on steampowered.com which goes for $50, and includes HL2, CS:S and HL2:deathmatch...

the collectors edition, which is also equivalent to the bronze package but comes with HL1:Source and the t-shirt as well, can be found here - http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...65615?v=glance - for $45

basically, do not buy the bronze package on steam, it's the same as the retail versions which can be bought for cheaper...the silver package includes all of steam's back catalog, and Day of Defeat:Source (if/when that ever comes out)...

this really is why I dislike Steam so much, by going this route, they've eliminated most elements of supply and demand and competition from their pricing, it's been almost a year since HL2 came out, and yet their prices have not gone down at all, whereas the retail versions have...

Doesn't the collectors edition also have one install DVD disc rather than the standard five? Half Life 2 is an amazing game, I'm still at Highway 17 though.

Anybody know where can I pick up the t-shirt separately?

I got the collector's edition for christmas. you get the box, t-shirt, and hint book (which doesn't help all that much, but it does get you started) the games i get with it are HL2, CS:S, HL:S, HLeathmatch, Codename Gordon. It comes on 1 DVD.

Allan, How does HL2 run on your 6000d and at which settings?
