| | | Half life 2 cd-key Hi,
I bought a whole bunch of PV games on ebay including an original copy of HalfLife2
It comes with 5 cds and a serial number, but no box or instructions
I installed it yesterday and entered the serial number from the back of the 5th envelope and I was informed that it was already registered and I got an email back from Steam indicating the same thing
Since I don't play games that often, I didnt't realize that there was a unique protection by account for this game, regardless of whether you have an original serial number or not ?
Is there anything I can do to play this thing ?
As far as I can tell, they look like the original discs ?
I could send it to Steam, with all the packaging that I have, but I don't have the box or instructions
Thanks

| | | Hey Rich, I just got my Half Life two from WPCBUYER (---GREAT SELLER,
basically your going to have to talk to whoever you bought that from, because your going to need his account and password, in order to register it in ur name...Otherwise your going to have to contact Sierra and send it in and stuff to get a new one!.
I played HL2 for about 10 hours yesterday at FULLL EVERYTHING AWESOME GAME!!!!.
Good Luck!

| | | Plays well here on my M505x notebook MR9600/64megs.
An amazing game indeed but not nearly as great as FarCry.

| | | Anyone else Unfortunately the seller isn't being too helpful. I left a message with Steam and indicated that I have the original cds and serial number and asked them if they could send me a new serial or deregister the serial number from the previous purchaser, but I don't expect to get a positive response
I noticed that ebay is selling cd-keys for around $20, so I might just end up buying it again
I'm not too disappointed, since I bought a whole stack of games and this was just a bonus, but it's annoying nevertheless. I've been out of the gaming scene for quite some time, and I've never encountered a situation with PC games requiring a unique serial number by account
If anyone has anything to suggest, let me know
Thanks |

| | | Steam works on the most anal :moon: system of all time! HL2 is a great game but if a person is ever in the situation youre in, youre usually just screwed! I would continue to ring the seller a bit. But without his/her steam login you aren't getting anywhere and like you said, it may just be worth getting a $20 new SN! But the game is worth playin if you like a shooter! Good Luck!!!
