HELP: I can see the volume mixer running, but no sound

So i was listening to some music on youtube and all of a sudden the noise jsut stopped working, but the volume mixer was still working, showing sound was playing. I tried playing music on my computer,a dvd, all nothing. I went into my device manager and it said all of my volume devices were working properly, updated all of the drivers, still nothing. please help !

Are we talking a laptop or a tower? If a tower, have you verified your speakers or receiver work with other inputs? If a laptop, have you tried external speakers and/or headphones? Or USB headphones?

    reboot.

disable speakers in device manager. enable speakers.

    reload audio drivers.

it does have beats audio and it is indeed an HP. i was advised to do a system restore to factory settings which i did, and the problem still persisted. I now have the send the computer in to HP, luckily it is still under warranty. it is a laptop btw
