Xbox 360 Wireless Controller

I recently plunked down the money on the xbox 360 played it the first evening with no problems... wake up this morning and my controller will not connect. Whats the lifespan on the batteries for this thing and is the rechargerworth it? The controller turns on fine just will not connect. Ive tried everything concerning freq interference, I am assuming thet batteries are just low.

i can get min of two weeks of heavy gameplay on standard AA batterys. i just recently bought the charging station and the plug and charge kit. i havent had a chance to check em out. but supposedly the batterys are 25hrs. but if you only played for a day with it something else is wrong those batterys are nowhere near dead

Actually it turned out to be my video connection that was casuing the controller to not connect.
