 : 6 th | | | Xbox 360 HD-DVD Player is Out! Mine is waiting for me back home, and i wont get to pick it up until Sunday.
However, so far I have been following what the audio/ideo junkies at avsforum.com have had to say about it.
After going through more than 60 pages of threads, what I have been able to gather is the following: - Picture quality is on par with stand-alone HD DVD players.
- It is a very quiet drive.
- It loads faster than other stand alone HD DVD drives.
- Can play normal DVDs from the HD DVD drive.
- Does 1080p.
- Upconverts standard dvds to higher resolution, ONLY when connected through VGA.
- For a limited time, it does include King Kong and the Xbox 360 remote control. (Each retails for $30 dollars... so you are getting the HD DVD drive for $140.)
Quote:
VGA= 1080P on HD-DVD, Games, SD-DVD
Component= 1080P Games, 1080I HD-DVD, 480P SD-DVD

They currently have a deal, in which if you buy 2 HD DVDs, you get a 10% discount on HD DVDs for the rest of the year.

| | | I'll be getting it,for sure.. But, i think im going to wait for some other games and dvd's to come out that take advantage of 1080p before diving in...
For example, check out Amazon.com that Enderet suggested. check out what movies are available in HD.... I only saw like 2 good movies on thier whole list...I'll give it a few more months for better movies to come out and prices will drop

The drive is usable on PCs. 200 dollars for an external hd dvd drive that also works on my xbox? sure.

| | | How would HD-DVD benefit the older movies that are out for it? Would they be even less grainy? I figured they put them on HD-DVD just because it was an easy tranfer for them, and they could get some titles, but I was wondering how HD-DVD could make movies like Excalibur, Forbidden Planet and Spartacus look any better. | | |
